This one is for all the childless cat ladies! 😻 "But won’t you be lonely when you’re old?” It’s something child-free people are constantly asked. The pressure to become a parent is all-pervasive in a culture that still largely believes you’re incomplete without kids, so in this week’sepisode of Well Enough Alone, we dive right into the topic.I speak with child-free advocate,Danni Duncan about why she chose not to have kids, and the assumption that not becoming a mother will lead to misery and loneliness. As she points out, having a child as an insurance policy against isolation is not a great reason to become a parent. And it’s no guarantee you won’t be alone in your old age. There are many ways to have connection and be nurturing, and they don’t all look like the traditional nuclear familyThis was a wide-ranging, open conversation about the choices we’ve made, the pushback we’ve both faced, and how things are slowly changing. You can listen now on Apple podcasts:Apple: https://lnkd.in/gxC_6DDtOr Spotify: https://lnkd.in/ggQfg5ZqOr wherever you get your podcasts. And if you’re enjoying the show, I’d love it if you could leave us a rating or review, it really helps us grow. 🎙️#childfree #childfreebychoice #sololiving #wellenoughalone

Bump in the road? Indeed. Meet Pat Wetzel. Pat is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania and Wharton Business School. She began her professional life working in the finance industry in New York City. We talk about some of that in this episode of Unstoppable Mindset and we even get Pat’s take on today’s economy.Pat’s life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with a serious neurological disease myasthenia gravis. She went through a divorce and eventually reassessed her entire life. Talk about being unstoppable, to sum it up, Pat decided to continue living. She is one of the relatively few who was diagnosed but fully survived and moved on from her disease.Along the way she discovered soaring-flying high in motorless airplanes. Soaring she began to do not only in airplanes, but with the rest of her life.I think you will be totally inspired by Pat’s story. Four years ago she began the Bump In The Road podcast and just this year she published her first book called, you guessed it, Bump In The Road. Check out Pat Wetzel’s story on our episode this time and I hope you will pick up her book as well as listening to her podcast, after you listen to this one of course. You can catch the full episode on Apple Podcasts/iTunes at: https://apple.co/3v0vWsn or on our website at https://lnkd.in/g3K4NPys #UnstoppableMindset #accessCast #accessiBe #accessibility #Mindset #Inclusion #BumpInTheRoad

Getting older was all I ever wanted as a kid. I was 11 years old, dreaming about the days when no one would tell me what to do. To me, that was freedom. There's freedom in getting older. Freedom to have things the way I want and need them. Freedom to give generously without asking for anything back.Freedom to change my mind. To say no clearly and yes excitedly. To build my career and business in a way that is congruent with my values and personality. And, the ultimate freedom: 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬. It's not that I couldn't do these things when I was younger. I just carried a heavier load about what was "right" and "appropriate". I've been lightening my load. On the new episode of When Does It Get Good?, I talked with a former colleague and dear friend, Cheryl Sternberg. She was a long-time consumer research exec who is no stranger to shedding the stories we pick up that get in the way of our personal freedom. She's a boomer, I'm a GenX-er and we talk about what it means to get older and the great things that come with it. You can listen on Apple, Spotify, YouTube or anywhere you get your podcasts. And if you listen, leave a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review - it helps others find the show and it makes me cry a little bit every time. #whendoesitgetgood#boldnessablaze#aging#genx#boomer#podcast

Tonight, we explore the complexities of raising emotionally secure children. We explore the silent storm that often goes unnoticed - how parental anxiety affects children OR how parental anxiety 'harms' them.Parents are like the atmosphere creators at home. When they are anxious, it affects how everyone feels at home. Children, take in these emotions, like how a sponge soaks up water. This is called 'emotional contagion', where children catch the anxiety of their parents.🎙️ Listen to #advokids on apple podcast: https://lnkd.in/eKW6MTt🎙️ Listen to #advokids on google podcast: https://lnkd.in/eqbxHGf https://lnkd.in/e7-xx4C
