Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of AEW Collision on September 21.
Here is a look at what AEW advertised ahead of this week's show:
With Grand Slam coming up next Wednesday and WrestleDream following on October 12, AEW also spent some time setting up stories and matches for those shows.
Let's take a look at what happened on Saturday's show.
Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes vs. Undisputed Kingdom (ROH Tag Titles)
1 of 7
- Kneepads over jeans will always be a weird look.
- Guevara's moonsault from the barricade was nice.
- Guevara's suicide dive was blocked by a chair shot to the head.
- Guevara seemed to climb the ladder for no reason before being pushed off into some tables.
- Dustin wrapping his boot in barbed wire didn't really do anything because his kick hit the turnbuckle, not Bennett's crotch.
Rhodes and Guevara came out wearing local hockey jerseys for this Bunkhouse Brawl match for the ROH tag titles. Guevara didn't wait for Taven and Bennett to get to the ring to start fighting.
The ring was surrounded by tables, ladders, chairs and a litany of other weapons for all four competitors to use. Bennett was already bleeding before we were even five minutes into the show.
As expected, this was pure chaos from start to finish. We saw chair shots to the head, people crashing through tables covered in barbed wire, some kendo stick strikes, and we even saw a cutter from the apron through another table.
The crowd was loud and cheering for every big spot. These are four guys who have all proved to be versatile talents, so it shouldn't surprise anyone to see them working well together in a wild bout like this. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was a fun bit of mayhem to kick off Saturday night.
All four men were bloody, battered and bruised by the time Guevara scored the pin to retain the ROH tag titles.
Result: Guevara and Rhodes defeated the Undisputed Kingdom
Grade: B
Notable Moments and Observations
Hologram, Mark Briscoe and Kyle O'Reilly vs. Premier Athletes
2 of 7
- Hologram needs a better ring jacket. It looks like it wasn't made very well.
- Sterling is one of the best stooge managers. He knows his role and is willing to look like a fool to make babyfaces look good.
- KOR is the most subtle funny wrestler in AEW.
Hologram, Mark Briscoe and Kyle O'Reilly teamed up to continue The Conglomeration's feud with Tony Nese, Ari Daivari and Josh Woods of The Premier Athletes.
Rocky Romero accompanied the babyface team and tried to help offset Mark Sterling's interference, but the heels still found ways to cheat.
This was a high-energy match, but it didn't feel like there was a cohesive story. It was as if they were following a pattern, one we have seen in many AEW trios bouts.
Hologram, KOR and Big Chicken picked up another win, making them one of the more successful trios in AEW right now.
The odds are good that this team will eventually hold the AEW trios or ROH six-man titles.
Result: Hologram, KOR and Briscoe defeated Premier Athletes
Grade: B-
Notable Moments and Observations
Mariah May vs. Lady Frost
3 of 7
- Frost's German suplex looked good.
- AEW is getting into a bad pattern of only giving women's matches a few minutes.
CollisionAEW
Lady Frost had a big opportunity this week when she faced May in an AEW women's world title eliminator match.
Even though May had a size advantage, Frost is strong enough to make it an even fight. This was a short but solid bout. They were working well together but only had a few minutes.
May scored the win with Storm Zero.
Result: May defeated Frost
Grade: C
Notable Moments and Observations
Darby Allin vs. Evil Uno
4 of 7
- Deonna Purrazzo appears to have taken on a stereotypical crime boss role with Taya Valkyrie as her backup.
- Uno's pounce looked awesome.
- Trying to steal Uno's mask was a big heel move. It was kind of surprising.
Collision.AEW
After Allin was shown yelling at Uno backstage, the Dark Order leader began their bout with a hard slap that knocked Allin off his face.
After beating on Allin for a bit, Uno found himself fighting to keep his mask on until Alex Reynolds lent some assistance at ringside.
This wasn't very long but it was an intense and hard-fought contest that made Uno look tougher than he has in an AEW ring in years.
Had this bout had five more minutes, it would have probably stolen the show. It was good as it was, but it had the potential to be better.
Result: Allin defeated Uno
Grade: C+
Notable Moments and Observations
Queen Aminata vs. Serena Deeb
5 of 7
- Deeb's robe was a lot flashier than her usual ring jacket.
- Aminata was doing a good job keeping up with Deeb during the chain wrestling sequences.
- The swinging neckbreaker from Aminata was fantastic.
Collision.AEW
Serena Deeb was turned down by Queen Aminata when she offered to coach her, so they met for a match this week to see who was better.
They started slow with some basic lockup exchanges. The Professors' technical ability was on full display as they tried to one-up each other on the mat.
Unlike Frost vs. May, this bout was given two segments to breathe, so they had enough time to make this feel competitive and sell every move without rushing.
The longer they went, the more physical this became. The crowd chanted "This is awesome" to show its appreciation.
Aminata put up a great fight but was ultimately pinned by Deeb's Detox finisher. Serena smiled and looked impressed by Aminata after the match.
Result: Deeb defeated Aminata
Grade: B+
Notable Moments and Observations
10-Man Tag Match
6 of 7
- Mortos came out with Roddy instead of having his own entrance.
- Hook is noticeably better at a lot of fundamental things than he was two years ago. He has improved a lot.
- Roddy and Hook's exchange of chops was great.
- Rush and Dax had a fun sequence toward the end.
Collision.AEW
The main event of the night was a huge 10-man tag match that combined multiple feuds.
On one side of the ring were Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, Hook, Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum. On the other side were Roddy Strong, Mortos, James Drake, Zack Gibson and Rush.
Matches like this are a tough nut to crack. You want everyone to have a little time in the ring to shine, but you also want the flow to make sense and the action to be logical.
Bouts with 10 people are difficult to set up in a satisfying way. We got a lot of fun action, but we also saw some sloppy moments and spots that served no purpose other than looking cool.
Those complaints aside, this was a good way to get a lot of talents on TV at once. Rush ended up scoring a surprising win for his team.
Result: Rush, GYV, Mortos and Strong won
Grade: B

The Final Word
7 of 7
This week's Collision was a solid episode as a whole, but it had highs and lows that made it feel a bit disjointed at times.
Most of the matches were good, but the one that stood out most was Deeb vs. Aminata. They beat the tar out of each other and gave us a clean finish.
The 10-man tag bout had some entertaining moments, Allin and Uno was better than expected, and the Bunkhouse Brawl will fill any desire you have for blood and chaos.
Ending the show with a promo from Nigel McGuinness directed at Bryan Danielson is probably a good sign that the match will happen as planned, but if it doesn't, the way AEW is building it up is going to leave a bad taste in people's mouths.
